In Mordhau, the player character loadout is called a Mercenary; consisting of armor, weapons, and perks.

Default Mercenaries

Whilst players have the freedom to customise their own Mercenaries with gold earned, the game comes with nine pre-made 'default' Mercenaries that allow players to experience different weapons, armor, tools and the playstyles they are associated with. This is especially important for new players who cannot afford to unlock much content straight away.

The default Mercenaries are as follows:

Loadouts

Each mercenary consists of a number of components that you can customize.

Loadout Points

Every mercenary has a limit of 48 loadout points, which can be allocated between Perks, Armor, Weapons, and other Support items.

Armor & Cosmetics

Armour in the Head, Torso and Legs costs loadout points, and offers physical protection against weapons. The remaining slots are purely cosmetic, and do not affect how much protection your mercenary has.

Items in the Head, Torso and Legs slots are sorted into four groups, which is the deciding factor for how much protection you'll have in the upper, middle, and lower sections of the player model. These categories are Unarmored (T0), Light (T1), Medium (T2), and Heavy (T3).

For a full list of all the available cosmetics for every slot, see the Customization page.

Equipment

You have three slots to assign Weapons and other support items to your mercenary. The Mule perk however gives you an additional fourth slot that you can use to pick up additional items from the ground in battle.

For a full list of all the available equipment, see the Weapons page.

Perks

Perks are a means to spend points left over after you have bought armour/weapons. They vary in both utility and cost. Some are banned in ranked game modes. but all are allowed in casual game modes.

There are no limits to the amount of Perks you can spend your loadout points on.

To see a full list of perks with detailed descriptions, point cost etc. see the Perks page.

Emblems

There are a number of Emblems within the game, for which you can choose one per Mercenary. This emblem will be utilised by various cosmetics and equipment to adorn a symbol, either painted on equipment or clothing.

For a full list of the Emblems in the game, see the Emblems page.
