Historical References[ | ]

  • "Messer" is the German word for knife, but in this context it refers to a single-edged sword with a distinct knife-like hilt. Popular in Germany from around 1300-1500, messers were legally defined as knives rather than swords and as such were not beholden to the same size and weight restrictions.

Notes and Trivia[ | ]

  • This weapon seems to be modeled after the two-handed kriegsmesser rather than the more common langes messer, the smaller, one-handed brother of the former.
  • It seems that Horde mode Perks benefit their respective modes, i.e. : Lever Action benefits the weapon's two-handed mode, while Dexterity benefits both modes.
