The Short Sword is a small, one-handed weapon, often compared to the Cleaver or Dagger.

Historical References[]
While this weapon wasn't referred to as the "short sword" in medieval times, it definitely existed. Like many weapons, it independently originated from various corners of the world throughout different ages. That, however, doesn't mean it was very prominent. The short sword is essentially a jack of all trades, but master of none. There are better weapons to fulfill the purpose of the short sword. If you wanted a small thrusting weapon, the dagger is a better choice. If you wanted a sword light enough to be easily wielded in a single hand, then the arming sword is the better choice.
